SJG: Power of Choice

Posted on Updated on

Our suggested journey topic for this session was the Power of Choice. A lot of what I have been seeing in myself as well as in my friends, family, and clients, is the blindness of how much power is in the ability to choose. Despite all of the pain, discomfort, and general malaise we could be potentially feeling in our down time – we ask the question, “What situation in my life feels like it I have no choice in the matter? And how do I take my power back in that situation?”

SJG: Breaking Up The Ground

Posted on Updated on

Our suggested journey topic for this meeting is about breaking up the ground. How can we be like the weed in the sidewalk that can grow anywhere? We will talk about how our tenacity at being ourselves can erode the old structures of foundation within our minds.

SJG: Standing in the face of adversity

Posted on Updated on

Our topic for this meeting was “Standing in the face of adversity” so that we can step more fully into being agents of change amidst chaos. We talk about communal energies and how we can get swept away in the bigness of energies that are bigger then ourselves. The March last Friday was amazing! I attended the rally until about 1pm, and I was glad that I did! They had many wonderful speakers that day.

SJG: Boundaries for the Holidays

Posted on Updated on

This suggested journey topic is all about boundaries for the holidays. We can journey to our energy body and ask our guides what specifically happens during our boundaries during specific events. We list a few examples of things that might potentially happen during a journey of this sort – but be open to what you might discover!

SJG: Gift of Giving

Posted on Updated on

This Journey Group we had an interesting conversation about the gift of giving. What does it mean to actually give without going into a state of depletion? What does it mean to receive fully the gifts of others? How can we empty ourselves so that we can be apart of this true gifting and receiving of the holiday season without going into overwhelm?

October 2018

Posted on Updated on

Some might have noticed that things have been slower then normal here at Eagle Therapies. We aren’t doing as many events, and we also haven’t been sending out newsletters as often as we used to. Thank you everyone for your patience as we turn the wheel and rediscover who we are.

Underground EntranceThis month we will be focusing on the Ancestors since it is that time of year. There is a separation between this physical reality world, and the realm of the dead, and that veil is thin at this time. Hence why our Shamanic Journey Groups and Ancestral Healing Circle will be hyper-cognizant about this as we weave our circles this month. Now that we have streamlined our distance options, you can participate even if you’re not even in Virginia! Join us via Facebook Live for suggested journey topics, and message if you will be participating via Zoom so we can know whose coming to participate. We are currently in the process of dismantling our forums, so you can directly comment on the recorded posts that we make available. Or you can comment on our Facebook groups for the Ancestral Healing Circle or Shamanic Journey Groups.

Here are the dates and topics as follows:

October 7th: Ancestral Healing Circle – The theme of the month will be “playing small”. What parts of ourselves did we have to shove away into our margins because we had to “fit in”. And how much of this is what our Ancestors have passed down to us?

October 9th: Bi-Weekly Journey Group – Difference between ghosts and ancestral helping spirits. We will dive into this topic and see what is coming up for us during this time.

October 20th: Monthly Journey Group – This evening we will be doing two journeys. The container will be strongly reinforced by those who have gone before us. We won’t have a suggested journey topic, so feel free to bring your own!

October 23rd: Bi-Weekly Journey Group – Our relationship with grief. What are we afraid to grieve, and how can we release grief that we didn’t know was in us?

May we be the answer to the prayers of our ancestors

SJG: Hurricane Florence

Posted on Updated on

With hurricane Florence on it’s way, we decided to have this suggested journey topic (for more information about journeying and what it is, click here) go to the spirit of the hurricane. It can be intense at times, but we all managed to get pretty good journey results. Feel free to post your results either here or on the Facebook Group. If you need assistance journeying at home, feel free to follow this guide.

Even though Hurricane Florence has come and gone, you can feel free to take the ideas from this topic and use them for any upcoming storms.

The book I referenced is called, “Weather Shamanism: Harmonizing Our Connection with the Elements” by Nan Moss and the late David Corbin. They both started the teaching collaborative of Down to Earth based out of MA. Nan is a Foundation of Shamanic Studies teacher, and holds local weather circles in her area.

Have any questions? Email info@eagletherapies.com. Want to come to our next events? Check us out on either Facebook or Meetup. Feel free to check out our journey group archives!

Todays group was about tending our own inner fire in context of summer coming to an end. What are some good journey questions we can reflect in on at this time?

Thanks for watching!

Joining From a Distance

Posted on Updated on

The biggest thing we are facing today as a society is feeling isolated. Many spiritual leaders, guru’s and mystics have already uncovered that our Western Contemporary Society has a large wound of separation. In a shamanic cosmology, we are one with everything, and there is a sacredness in all things. If one believes that God/Goddess/Spirit created the world, then by that same definition, doesn’t that mean that God/Goddess/Spirit is in everything that was created? When we feel separated from this great “web of life” as some call it, then things within our inner landscape become out of balance. If the imbalance progresses, illness or a dis-ease of the Spirit can take place. Many traditional Shamans believe that if a spiritual illness (such as soul loss) were to perpetuate and set in, it can (over time) lead to physical ailments. If you’re interested in exploring this more, there are two Shamanic Podcasts that I highly recommend which talk extensively of this perspective. There is Michael Stone with Conversations, and Christina Pratt with Why Shamanism Now.

One of the ways we can counter this illusion of separation is to remember that we are one with all things. This is where daily spiritual practices and coming together in community are especially important. The daily spiritual practice will help reinforce your own personal connection to a higher power, while the community aspect allows you to be on this journey of inner awareness with others who are trying to accomplish the same thing. The law of attraction states that like attracts like, so pay attention to what you are surrounding yourself with.

Oh no… but what if you see great events and can’t participate in them because you can’t make the commute, or you’re too far away/live in a different state?!

This is where the beauty of the internet comes in handy! I can’t speak for all people that hold distance events, but here are links to the basic guide/overview of how we will run things at Eagle Therapies so if you do not have a local community – you can still participate in one!

We use Zoom for people to interact with each other in a virtual space. Please email us at info@eagletherapies.com, or FB message us before just “showing up” virtually. This helps us prepare how we will be running the event. Here is the login information for when you do join us at a distance:

Shamanic Journey Group

There is a bi-weekly Shamanic Journey Group that meets every other week at various locations (check out our Facebook or Meetup for up to date lists). There are some people that wish to practice their journeying skills with others, and this is the perfect way to do so – whether in person or at a distance. The Journey Group has been running steadily since 2014, so there is a solid structure to hold people as they engage in the “Journey Tracks” that are posted as we find explore a topic to journey about together. For a link to an in-depth explanation for the structure and format, click here. For support for journeying at home, click here.

Ancestral Healing Circle

Once monthly around the New Moon is a Ceremony called the Ancestral Healing Circle. This is a Ceremony that welcomes both the new as well as the experienced. It is where we gather and work on the unresolved issues/patterns within ourselves, the ancestors, as well as in the land itself. The Ancestral Healing Circles have been apart of the Shamanism Without Borders community and follows the code of ethics set by the Society of Shamanic Practice. Before involving healing of any kind in our circles, we must first ask permission/consent for those that we are praying for. This is why most of the time (especially for beginner ceremonialists), we focus on ourselves and our connection to the topic at hand for the month. As Sandra Ingerman says, the microcosm reflects the macrocosm, and any inner work that we do has an effect on the greater web of life. A post is coming for a more in-depth explanation for the structure and format of joining at a distance.

If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at info@eagletherapies.com or call/text 571.306.3197. And please also don’t be shy about leaving a message. We are here to help support a growing community of people that want to help each other. We’re all in this together.
