Shaking Foundations

Rainbow

For many that have been following my story on Facebook and getting to know me through community events, it’s been a bumpy couple of months. I am deep in Year 2 of the Cycle of Transformation, which is all about shadow work. I have been working through what is called the “dark night of the soul” by some. I’m facing fears that had created monstrosities out of different parts of myself. This is the year I’m really taking my life back into my own hands.

For so many years, I had been battling a self hatred. I was doing all of the things I thought I should do. Listening as hard as I could to self help books, and diving into the teachings because it’s what I “should have” done. But something was always preventing me from diving really deep to the root of some of my issues.

It turned out to be myself.

I’ve been sitting in the fire and allowing these painful parts of myself to step forward, healing them one step at a time. I have a beautiful non-local shamanic community that are holding my feet to the fire and having me be accountable to myself with weekly emotional clearing calls and monthly check ins.

I “thought” I had been working for years on my “people pleasing” tendencies. I “thought” I wasn’t being the victim because I was a warrior. Turns out that my warrior tendencies were me pushing myself into excess because I was running away from those shadows that were inside me. I was depleting myself beyond measure because those were my coping skills since early childhood. This translated into everything I was doing and why I wasn’t going anywhere in my life. I had given away my ability to receive. It wasn’t until this year that I realized how much I turned down compliments and felt uncomfortable actually receiving people telling me how much I’ve impacted their lives. I’ve bulldozed many situations with my big energy – but I didn’t realize how much I had been treating myself like a speed bump. Self care had always been hard, but I’ve managed to take the time for me and really press the reset button within the past couple of months. That means a change to how I’m going to be running Eagle Therapies.

First of all, I’m ending my relationship with Twitter. I originally just did it because I thought it would drum up more of a following, but my attention is too scattered and I simply can’t focus on it at this time. I know there are integration apps out there, but I found that a lot of the people that are on Twitter are not the crowd I’m trying to reach. And even when I try to link my Instagram with Twitter….it just feels slutty, like I’m spreading myself too thin. And thats exactly the habit I’m trying to break.

A lot of the events that I started doing were because people were requesting them. I was trying to fill any niche or hole that I could, and it worked! I was able to experiment and find out what worked and what didn’t, and continued hosting events. I was doing anywhere between 6-12 events per month. Some of them were successful, while others were not. As a vow to myself, I’m going to reflect this slowing down that I’m doing in my personal life and allow Eagle Therapies to adapt to my personal care schedule.

One change that I’m making is that I’m saying goodbye to Drum and Song circles. There is a definite need for them in this area, but finding venues/locations/times that work for the people who want to make it are hard. And it’s also not my calling. There are several people who have this as a calling like Katy Gaughan, Kristen ArantKen Crampton, Daniel Greenberg, Hands on Drums in DC and also during the summer in DC are the drum circles at Meridian Hill Park.

Another change is that I won’t be doing the Life Compass Groups anymore. I found that I created those events because I didn’t know what was around in the area. That group rose out of a need for me to find connection within my own body, and as soon as I really allowed myself to explore the 5Rhythms and Ecstatic Dance communities, I found what I was looking for! It has been so nice for me to dive into a rich plethora of people already doing these events, and just be a participant instead of a leader. I do feel really called to the dancing path, so I am investing time, dedication, and the patience of the 5Rhythms teaching path. You can check out local event listings on 5Rhythms DC or Ecstatic Dance DC. Ann and Atticus are WONDERFUL people!

Yes, I will still be involving and incorporating dance or movement into the ceremonies and rituals. I am definitely teaching the power of movement/dance into some of the workshops or classes that I’m teaching. It’s becoming a large part of who I am because I’ve realized how disconnected from my physical body I actually was. As soon as I stepped onto the more spiritual path, I vowed not to be that ungrounded person always talking about outer space and escaping their body. But then I found out that a part of me was already doing that! Oh the discoveries we make 🙂

Self love and acceptance go a long way <3

Since I’m slowing down, I’m starting to restructure Eagle Therapies as a whole. As I’m changing and transforming as a new individual, coming more from my center instead of excess (and thinking I have all the energy!), I’m allowing only the events which are a true expression of my nature to come forward. I will be attending events as much as I am holding space for them, and I will allow things to organically grow and shift. If I don’t see you at an Eagle Therapies event, then I will most likely see you on the dance floor!

SJG: Hurricane Florence

With hurricane Florence on it’s way, we decided to have this suggested journey topic (for more information about journeying and what it is, click here) go to the spirit of the hurricane. It can be intense at times, but we all managed to get pretty good journey results. Feel free to post your results either here or on the Facebook Group. If you need assistance journeying at home, feel free to follow this guide.

The book I referenced is called, “Weather Shamanism: Harmonizing Our Connection with the Elements” by Nan Moss and the late David Corbin. They both started the teaching collaborative of Down to Earth based out of MA. Nan is a Foundation of Shamanic Studies teacher, and holds local weather circles in her area.

Have any questions? Email info@eagletherapies.com. Want to come to our next events? Check us out on either Facebook or Meetup.

September 2018 Ancestral Healing Circle

DEEP gratitude for all that joined us yesterday during our Ancestral Healing Circle! We even had people join us from Texas and Nevada from a distance! The topic we covered was managing resistance and seeing if we could find somewhere in our Ancestral Line that we could focus our attention in regards to managing that resistance we feel daily in our lives at this time.

Here is the recording of the Ancestral Healing Circle if you wish to join us in our circle. We offered some deep shares, nice reflections for each other, and many blessings for those that continue to do this personal transformation work.

If you wish to participate in the ritual within the ceremony, it requires some paper and a candle. Hopefully you will be able to burn a small little portion within your home so we don’t set off your fire alarm 😉

All Ancestral Healing Circles are run off of donation. You can choose to donate with PayPal if you feel called to share that reciprocity. These Ancestral Healing Circles are gifts that Eagle Therapies offer to the world, and donations are a way to gift back.

Many blessings to you and yours! And may we be more empowered to break these chains that bind us!

Todays group was about tending our own inner fire in context of summer coming to an end. What are some good journey questions we can reflect in on at this time?

Thanks for watching!

Awakening the Seed – Stockton, CA

Apart of the Eagle Therapies US Tour. You can visit our Ceremony Page for other recorded Ceremonies or songs.

We had a beautiful Ceremony that took place in Stockton, CA. Eagle Therapies has been gathering with people in National Parks to be able to offer ceremonies to the public, however last night we had a beautiful Ceremony in someones home. This next half of the trip will be a lot more spaced out and not as rushed, so we will be offering more “in home” experiences rather then just public ceremonies.

The Spirits of the Land wanted us to do what are known as “Awakening” Ceremonies, and this is the first one in the trip. It is to help us crack open that seed within us and allow our authenticity to come out naturally. Join us virtually! Forum post will be coming soon. I apologize for the video being tilted. As soon as I get access to a computer again I’ll switch the video around.

If you would like to download the video or watch it on google drive, click here.

These Ceremonies and interactions are run off of donation. I have taken a chance and have opened myself up to receiving the kindness of strangers. If you feel called to donate, you can either Venmo (preferred) to @stephanie-seger-1 or paypal eagletherapiesevents@gmail.com. Every dollar matters and helps ensure that these Ceremonies continue in a blessed and reciprocal way.

Mount Tahoma

The Spirit of Mount Rainier gets really cranky when you acknowledge it by “Mount Rainier”. So therefore I will try my best to keep addressing it as Mount Tahoma. This series was very beautiful and absolutely lovely. Thank you to all that attended! It even made it into the post, “What is Sacred” because of the way people interacted on the trails of that lovely mountain.

Apart of the Eagle Therapies US Tour. You can visit our Ceremony Page for other recorded Ceremonies or songs.

We had this beautiful lei that was donated by Masha Sanders of the Last Mask Community, and we gifted it to Mount Tahoma at Narada Falls. We recorded the gifting here:

As a last little gift, the Mountain called me back as I traveled up to Seattle that next week and wanted to give us some glacier water. I will be carrying it with me so I can offer water blessings from Mount Tahoma at the public Ceremonies along the way.

Water Blessing Ceremony – Part 2 of 3

There has been an interest generated that I am humbled to witness/be apart of. Here is part 2 of a 3 part Ceremony series called the Water Blessing Ceremony – Coast to Coast Series.

This was shot on the coast of the Puget Sound. A lovely little beach that flows right out to the Pacific Ocean. I was able to meet up with some other members of our non-local shamanic community and even had a distance participant from Facebook!

It’s not too late! This Ceremony was recorded for a reason, and the way it was energetically set up means that people can participate at any time as long as they have heart and meaning when they participate. Feel free to pass this Ceremony along to friends or family that might be interested in putting their prayers energetically into that bottle of water that currently holds water from the Potomac River and the Pacific Ocean. It’s short, simple and only 30 minutes. Not a lot of “woo woo”, so even people that are new to Ceremony don’t have to be intimidated. It’s as simple as saying why we are grateful for water, and all of the lovely things that water does.

If you feel called to donate, you can either Venmo (preferred) to @stephanie-seger-1 or paypal eagletherapiesevents@gmail.com. Serpent Mound Ceremony Song

I was not called to record the whole Ceremony, but instead record just a song from it. People signed up for tickets online, however I got more strangers to participate then people that showed up 🙂 Spirit works in funny ways.

The Smoking Mountain

Mount Saint Helens is an active volcano that erupted twice in the 1980’s, spilling layers of ash across many states. Traditionally she is known as Loowit. I was blessed with some members of the Last Mask Community as we journeyed together on the mountain, doing this very special Ceremony with this special volcano. There is still hot magma that bubbles up from the volcano’s center, and the major message had to do with abrupt change/transformation. Listen and feel some of the messages in this video below.

What is Sacred

All of these experiences on the US Tour are happening because of readers like you! This is a donation funded trip, and all donors receive a special shout out at a sacred site. Feel called to support this sacred pilgrimage? You can either donate through Venmo (preferred) to @Stephanie-Seger-1 or PayPal to eagletherapiesevents@gmail.com. All donors will receive a special gift from this trip, so be sure to include an address!

What is sacred?

I had a sinking feeling when I first started this US Tour that it wasn’t what I was originally conceiving. When I had originally received the message to visit Sacred Sites all across the United States and do Ceremony at them, I was concerned about the general public and how these ceremonies would be perceived. I was excited about what the Spirits of the Land would say, but concerned about the human counterparts.

This has proven true time and time again. I write this on the day after my Ceremony at Mount Rainier, where the Mountain himself was upset that people have lost touch with the sacred within the Mountain. Many people go to visit Mount Rainier for its aesthetic features, taking in only the surface value of what the Mountain has to offer. They go because of the stunning views, the waterfalls, and the inspiration from which they see. It stirs a deep part of themselves, but yet they ignore it. Just like they ignore the spirit of the mountain.

As an exercise, the Mountain suggested I offer tobacco to people. An easy way to give gratitude. It was obvious that my small crew and I were doing Ceremony. There were several people walking by that stopped and watched, and about 3 people who filmed us singing and praying. When the Ceremony was complete, I stepped out onto the crowded path as person after person walked by me. Many ignored me as I tried to offer tobacco blessings, and several avoided me. Out of the 8 people who I had face to face interaction with, only 2 people took a pinch of tobacco. And I felt that it wasn’t because they wanted to, but because they would feel rude if they didn’t take the offer. Especially because I mentioned the word praying, most likely evoking an age old guilt of something that was ground into them as children to do, but didn’t end up doing as adults.

I tried to stop early because it felt awkward. It seemed as though people were fine with watching, but interacting was so alien. However, the Mountain was insistent that I feel that alienation and that feeling of being ignored. In that moment the Mountain and I had a shared kinship. We were there offering gratitude and beauty, but most humans were too absorbed in their own nature to reach out to “the other”. I understood the message, and felt it deep in my bones. Most people just don’t care. They would rather just see the superficial instead of the deeper nature. They would rather feel comfortable in the known instead of risk being uncomfortable to talk to a stranger about what he/she might be doing.

Contrast to doing the Ceremony at Serpent Mound. I had no one show up that signed up for event tickets, however after the Ceremony I offered tobacco blessings, and every person I offered it to were eager to learn more about praying from the heart and how to offer prayers to the world around them. Most people come to Serpent Mound because the essence of the Sacred has been tended there for generations by a people with traditions. At Mount Rainier, the overwhelming numbers of tourists far outweigh the people who used to see and value the Mountain for what it meant to the people. The sacred has not been tended there, and thus the Mountain has become fickle, sharing her intimacies with the few that choose to honor the Mountain. To Mount Tahoma (Native name given to the mountain), people are insignificant and are just like ants. A minor nuisance and nothing more. He was there before humans and will continue to be there long after.

There was a beautiful moment when I was doing Ceremony at the Devils Tower in Wyoming. The sacredness has been tended by generations, and I felt it as I stepped onto the property. It was interesting being an outsider and giving gifts from another Shamanic Lineage. However, the Spirit of the Land understood the gifting process and I was not able to tap into the essence of the sacred until after I had given my humble gift. It was a private moment that made me cry, even though it was in view of the public. The sacred knows how to protect itself, but gifts given from the heart (especially after an introduction) will always be well received. It is about the honor, the acknowledgement, the respect from one living being to another, and it is about being apart of the gifting process.

Once we dig past the superficial nature of interacting with the world around us, we can find a deeper connection and interrelatedness that helps us feel more whole. Most people can’t put a finger on why they feel so disconnected or why they might feel like something is “missing” from their lives even though they feel they’re doing everything right. You know, the job, the house, the car, the 1.5 kids, etc. From my perspective, I didn’t start feeling truly whole until I touched into the innate sacred all around me. Of course it took a few soul retrieval’s and some personal work to get here because I wasn’t fully present enough in my body due to past trauma. I was legitimately missing parts of myself that could understand the meaning of the word “Sacred” and to tap into the sacred all around. I even had trouble conceiving that the sacred could even be found within myself because I had such little self esteem, and felt so disconnected from “all that is” or the universe/God, whatever you want to call it. When we want to find more meaning in our life, we will start our spiritual path down the road to connect more with the sacred in our daily lives. It’s about tending it within ourselves and acknowledging it, and giving gratitude to it outside of ourselves.

The truth is, that it’s a basic human right to have access to the sacred. But it takes work to be able to feel it viscerally within ourselves. Us humans come by it earnestly because we have had the sacred disconnected by how we were raised, society, and our mainstream culture (well, I can only speak for America). Instead, children get brought up with materialism and consumerism because it’s addictive. They lose sense of what is sacred because if something breaks – it’s replaceable. However, the divine cannot be replaced. If the rivers get polluted with fracking or oil spills, how can we “get a new river”? The mentality most have adopted is non-sustainable. It’s consumer based and not based in a reality that is sustainable.

The sacred is that deep sense of feeling or connection that you cannot put a finger on describing. It’s that feeling of feeling like a kid, looking up at the night sky with wonder and awe. It’s watching a waterfall and going, “Wow!” in appreciation. It’s about standing in that space where there is this unknown or mystery sense about things. That place of not knowing. This place of not knowing is where the magic happens, and where miracles take place. Miracles or the unexplained don’t happen that often because we don’t leave room for it. By tending and honoring the sacred within our own lives, we can connect to that profound depth of sacredness that is within nature all around us. Nature was here before us humans, and by giving gratitude to that which came before us, we honor the circle of life and awaken that seed of true love within ourselves.

Interested in joining us at a public ceremony? Follow our events on Facebook or Meetup. All of our events are free to come to and are run off of donation. If you missed us in your local area, you can view our recorded video excerpts on Facebook, YouTube or the forums. As of right now, Facebook will be your best bet because I haven’t got that great of internet reception to upload onto YouTube or the Forums quite yet.
